Daydreams of Quilts
Anita has been a creative person her whole life and started sewing, cross stitch and embroidery as a small child taught by her mother. The first thing she can remember sewing was a small rag doll with button eyes that she hand-sewed at age 4 inspired by Laura Ingalls from “Little House on the Prairie.”
Anita started quilting in 1997 when her husband, then boyfriend, was deployed overseas with the military and she needed something to fill her time and take her mind off her worries. She learned from books because there were no blogs our YouTube videos at the time. The internet has opened up a whole new world of learning opportunities and Anita continues to learn as well as give back on the internet.
Anita started her blog and Etsy shop in 2011 and began designing and releasing quilt patterns in 2015. In March 2020 she began a challenge to post a daily how-to video on her YouTube channel.
In 2018 Anita created and ran a free quilt along on her blog called the “Canadian Summer Quilt Along” with blocks designed by Canadian Quilts. (See the quilt below.)
Anita is currently working on more Daydreams of Quilts patterns and creating a series of videos for each of her free patterns available to Daydreams of Quilts newsletter subscribers and Facebook group members.
Her best known quilt pattern is the “Pixel Heart in a Pixel Heart” quilt shown below.
The trolls are hard at work listing all the bolts of fabric to this collection, please pop by again and they should be here for your viewing pleasure!
